ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. ![]() It’s nationally recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp’s operation. ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. The American Camp Association© (ACA) has recognized our Wyandot Camps for achieving ACA-Accredited© status for 2023. An accommodation plan must be completed prior to registering for summer camp. Dublin's recreational programs and extensive parkland make it rich in both green space and leisure time activities.Adaptive Recreation Services is committed to an inclusive approach to recreation, by providing individuals with and without disabilities opportunities to participate in activities together. Special events in Dublin range from the Dublin Irish Festival to the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Golf Tournament. As described by the city, the Bridge Street District is Dublin's commitment to the future, offering a wide range of entertainment, dining, retail, parks, recreation and housing opportunities for a young and diverse workforce. Students have additionally taken part in community offerings of Worthington(opens in a new window), German Village(opens in a new window) and the Short North(opens in a new window). With the Heritage College’s presence in central Ohio, students draw connection to the arts, entertainment, culture and community engagement opportunities that surround the campus within the City of Dublin(opens in a new window) and Greater Columbus(opens in a new window). By design, participants have the opportunity to work directly with current medical and health professional students and clinicians during their campus visits. Program activities include classroom instruction, team-based projects, hands-on clinical experiences and work with health professionals. The four-day camp and subsequent activities are held on Ohio University's Dublin campus, home to the latest learning technologies, clinical simulation center, high-tech clinical examination rooms and anatomy laboratory. ![]() The Medical Academy is designed as a yearlong career exploration program that begins with a four-day summer camp followed by enrichment activities held quarterly in the academic year that follows. Focused on reimagining educational approaches to careers in health care, the Medical Academy fosters learning across the educational continuum, enabling career exploration and professional growth and providing opportunities for leadership through service learning. The expansion of the Heritage College into central Ohio created opportunities to enhance community engagement, seed excitement in the next generation and cultivate the pipeline of health care professionals in the region.
